The original adventure continues...

BrokenSea Audio Productions is an amateur group that writes, produces and performs free audio plays. I hesitate to use the word amateur, they've been doing these audio presentations going on for four years. There's already a huge diverse line up of past offerings such as the X-Files, Doctor Who, Planet of the Apes, and most recently The Prisoner.

BrokenSea has just debuted its re-imagining of the original 1978 Battlestar Galactica. Unlike the new re-imagining, this story retains all of the original characters and closely follows the original story. The specific details and events of the story, however, are all newly reworked. As I understand it, the audio episodes will eventually progress through the timeline of the single season television series and then beyond into unexplored fictional territory. So it is a familiar, but completely new, listen with a fresh feel. There is already an original backstory, not a part of the television series, in the form of Adama's Journals. Episode 1 of the story proper, loosely mirroring the events after the TV pilot Saga of a Star World, premiered last week.

There's plenty here for old fans to love and new fans to dislike at first and vice versa. I'd guess most people would readily agree an enormous effort is invested into these audio productions and you can certainly hear that the fruits of that hard work. Most of all BrokenSea is owed a debt of gratitude for the hard work of its volunteers offered to the public for free. Take a look around at the Internet these days to notice the increasing prevalence of micro payments demanded for all kinds of original content. Paying as you go to go nearly everywhere is only going to get much, much worse.

Don't forget that ratings and reviews are all important on iTunes to keep new listings from being buried and lost as they age. Love it? Hate it? Make yourself heard!
